Inoussa Dao

Since Inoussa Dao was introduced to the carpentry trade by his older brother Hassan, he has been fascinated by giving new forms to materials that have apparently become unusable. He works with car tires, tools, cooking pots and other everyday objects and gives them a new soul by transforming them into pieces of furniture. In 2006, Inoussa won the  1st prize of the "Salon International de l'Artisanat de Ouagadougou "  (largest West African art fair), which also earned him a scholarship to study art at the "Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle" in Paris.

During this training, Inoussa was able to develop his talents even further and, after completing his studies, founded the Centre Lukaré, a centre for young artists in Ouagadougou. At the Centre Lukaré, creative women and men can practice and deepen their arts and crafts, familiarise themselves with new disciplines and combine them in new ways. At the Centré Lukaré, design, painting, sculpture and pottery are mixed in innovative works of art that are now receiving international recognition.
