Bronze sculpture "Femme qui lit" by Karim Sana | various sizes and colours
These elegant bronze sculptures were created by Burkinabe artist Karim Sana.
Working with bronze is a traditional craft in Burkina Faso. The term bronze refers to various alloys based on copper, zinc, lead and tin, the proportions of which vary. Today, bronze comes from the recycling of old fittings, such as faucets or parts from air conditioning systems.
The artist first creates a wax sculpture, which is covered with a sand mixture of clay and dung and dried. The mold is then cooked, the wax melts and escapes through the holes. The molten alloy is poured and takes the place of the wax. After cooling, the mold is broken to remove the sculpture and make the final touches. Each piece is therefore unique .
Made and fairly traded in Burkina Faso, Africa.
Each piece is unique and may vary slightly from the picture.
